I reckon we're lucky we can get AR/AK parts fullstop. DDTC could declare them SME any day they want.

It's just frustrating. Like everything about owning guns in NZ!
Have been thinking about making a golf-ball launcher that used modified 12-gauge shells, my initial sketches ended up looking a lot like a M79.
Actually speaking of beehive rounds, would something that fired them be classed as a shotgun or a machine gun?
A beehive round is an exploding projectile that expolodes at a predetermined range usually between 0 and 2000m, projecting foward a large number of steel flechettes or darts, in a cone shape. It was created for the 105mm howitzer in Vietnam and used as an anti personnel, direct fire, ammunition. It reportedly was very effective, even nailing the hands of the enemy soldiers to their wooden stocked rifles. It was called beehive because apparently 8000 supersonic steel darts sounded a bit like a swarm of bees.
Something that fires a beehive round would be called ARTILLERY and most likely very illegal.
I take it you mean a canister round? which is like a giant shotgun shell pretty much, and would maybe classed as such? They make such rounds for grenade launchers to give them a close quarter capability, either with buckshot or flechettes. These are sometimes called beehive just because its a cool name.
Do some of you fullaz have cannons? Id love to see some pics I saw one as a kid that lobbed D batteries, never got to see it fire but have been captivated ever since.
Always had the idea of converting a hydraulic cylinder...one day when time and money allows:(
