    120g 7mm-08 Load data?

(typo in heading - 120 grn)

I have a bunch of 120 grn Sierra that I want to load as a duel wallaby/deer load and use up powder that is not "precious". Mainly wallaby - but I see the odd good deer that are often out of range for the .223. So if Im in an area where there are deer I will take the 7-08 for the day instead of the .223. Thats the plan.

I usually use CFE.223 or BLC-2 for 120 NBT on deer but don't want to waste either on wallaby.

So, what are good loads for 120 grn with 2206H or 2208? They are the powders I have surplus?

18" barrel and would like to get close to the 3K I get with CFE223.

    Thanks

Sounds like a job for Gordon's Reloading Tool! Do you know the water capacity of the brass you're intending to use? Have you measured the maximum cartridge overall length with that bullet in your chamber? With those two bits of information and the data libraries I can work out some suggestions about likely outcomes.

I know the OAL but the brass is a mixed bag (using up my mixed brand stuff). I will look up the OAL. Ta

Depends on which gun your shooting the 7mm-08 out of.

In a mates T3 we run 43 gr AR2206H with Remington brass.

The same combo in my kimber is too hot.

I played with Remington brass but had better luck with PPU so I run 41 gr AR2206H

As you point out CFE223 is good powder in the 7mm-08 so I think you’ll get higher velocity with that powder.

I really should get some more and give it a whirl in the 7mm-08

I would have thought your .223 firing the heavier projectiles would be the ducks nuts for what your planning

The 223 shooting the 77 grn is the ducks nuts on deer but swapping the magazine from the cheap 55 grn to the 77 when I see a good deer is a pain and takes time.

The two 7-08 I load 120 Nosler ballistic tips in with 2208 I think one uses 42 grs and the other 44 but I'll check tonight they both do 3000fps

My Rem 700 Titanium shot very well with 120s over 47gn 2208, charge seemed about sensible max.
22in barrel, clocked around 3080. Also accurate with 120s and 45gn of 748 or 4064 but a little slower
    than 2208, around 2950.
