120gr nosler BT vs 140gr nosler BT in 260

Any recommendations on why either is better? Still have not got a load sussed for the 260 and am about to have a big session. Shot a deer with the 140gr out of a 7mm08 but a bit far back so did not see how effective it was.

Can't speak for noslers but generally I prefer 140s in the 6.5s unless hampered by OAL where a 120 or 130gr might work better.
I used 120s in a Swede for a while but the recoil felt the same as the 140s so I didn't see the point.

Currently use 140eldm at 2.91 OAL in a long action 260 and goes well enough to sell the 284

The 120gr BT doesn't open up well below 2000 fps from my grendel. Not a varmint/sub caliber/long range bullet. It is quite accurate, sub moa.

Either will kill deer fine. The 120's area little tougher

Sounds like the 120s like to be driven fast then. Does anyone know how the 140s perform at sub 2000fps?

@superdiver have just finished a 120nbt load for quad hunters 260 21 inch tfum barrel
    Lapua brass
Ar2208 a fair way over max so won’t post details in case of an Idiot reading and deciding its a good idea to use it without working up
But safe in his gun with no pressure signs at all text for details if you want

Shooting under an inch did better with lighter loads but hes a hunter inside 350 so an inch is fine and he wanted speed
I cronyed it today and it’s doing 3001 avg (5 rounds) and could go hotter but no point tbh
    And
    superdiver likes this.

They are pretty soft, so should be ok down towards 2k fps. Shot a couple with the 7mm version at 350m ish leaving the barrel at a leisurely 2625 fps and they both went down like they were struck by lightning. In fact, one bullet grenaded, even at the longer range.
