    130gr hot cor flat point

Anyone tried these in 308 or 30-06?
Are they specifically designed for 30-30?
I see speer has load data for them in 308 and 30-06.

I use to use the 130gr Speer hollow point in my 30/06 for goats. They were really good! I assume the flat point would be similar.

Good to know. I'm going to load them in 30-06 for a general low recoil round. Starting charges, so about 2900fps

Should be awesome..similar to stuff,I loaded 125grn flatties in 30/06 for mate and he said great for goat decapitation. Fast your turning them into a varmits pill but slower your making a hot 30/30.

They look identical to the Speer 150gn soft points I have, with the top trimmed off - I should try that with the pulled ones that have a damaged tip... thanks for the inspiration. I just loaded some up for the 30-40 Krag, but only running at 2400fps

Back in days when I only had one rifle and shot factory loads PMC was cheapest load so the 270 got fed 130 grn loads of that...LOTS of them, wasn't unusual to use sixty rounds a weekend on wallabies.my rifle would flatten the lead tips of rounds in bottom of magazine as some would get ten or fifteen rounds fired above them. I learnt to take pair of snips and neatly remove the exposed lead beforehand left small flat tip with copper jacket right to tip.they still shot very accurately so do t write off your 150s..just make them tidy and carry on as before.no need to overthink it.

Yeah, there's no info to suggest they aren't a standard hot cor with a flat tip. In which case my intended use should be good.
    I'll soon find out anyway.
    30/40 krag sounds cool
Good to keep these historical cartridges going and be satisfying harvesting game with them.

I think I was loading about 60gr 2209. The powder was up in the neck. But there was an air gap between the powder and the base of the projectile. No idea of velocity as this was back in the late 90’s and chronos were few and far between.

Sounds like a fairly full house load. Pretty good performance for a "varmint" bullet. I read they were a popular pill in 308 ar10s for helicopter culling. I see belmont ammo also load it at around 2750fps.

The ADI reloading data I have has 62gr(compressed load) 2209 with a 150gr projectile. Not sure if 2209 has changed to a slightly different recipe since the 90’s.
