147 ELDm in a 6.5/284 loads.

I have bought some 147 gn projectiles to run in my 1:8 twist rifle. 24 inch bbl.

I presently use 140 eldms or Berger vld hunting projectiles.

I have 09, 13, and 2217. Also RL 19,22, 25,26.
Thinking 2217 or RL22.

My accuracy load with 17 is pretty slow at 2800 fps.

I’d like to get about this speed with 147s. Lapua brass.

Is anyone loading 147s in this case and wanting to share loads and experiences?

Went really well in the rifle I had. Awesome for stopping deer at decent ranges. Was a tikka with a 19” barrel.

My load was with reloader 26 going at 2950, can message you the load and the length but it is quite hot.

I would say RL26 is your best bet if you want more speed.
I had one with a 20" barrel and could only get 2800fps with 130grn and 2217

2800 is well short of what you should be able to get with a 24" 6.5-284. The case is almost as big as a PRC.

Re26 will be the easy button to get more speed. But if you have leftover case capacity, shove some more 2217 in there and you won't be that far behind.

Pommy, I’ll start with 17, I can get more of it. It also doesn’t seem to spike as quickly.

Yes 2800 is slow but makes a bbl last more than 1000 rounds.

I think 2900 with a 147 is the target velocity.
