Thread: 168gr ELD-M Loads 16-18" 308

Interested to see if members are using these projectiles in a shorter 308, what loads and speed you are getting.

Just got an 18" 308 and ordered a bunch of these projectiles. I have CFE223 and 2206H on hand as well as BM2, but judging by the speed I was getting with 150gr SST's I'm picking this is too fast for 168's.

I used to load 168 A max with BM8208 for my AR10 back in the day but I've lost my load data and don't have enough of it left to bother with anyway.

I used the 168 amax with 46.2gns of 2206h fed 210s and whinchester brass 16" rem 700 extremely accurate not chronied

2206h goes well with the 168 ELD-Ms, 43 grains in my 20 inch 308 gets around 2600fps, not a hot load by any means but very accurate.

I used to run the 168amax in lapua brass at max mag length in a Sako fed magnum primer 47gr 2208 for 2750 from 22" barrel.
Load was warm but safe in my rifles but work up to your own max bla bla etc etc

They are an awesome projectile for a short barrel .308! They hit extremely hard and kill extremely well at those lower velocities. It's one of those perfect combos.
I use 45gr of 2208 in Lapua brass for 2520 out of a 16 inch barrel. Taken well over 100 deer with it including several over 500 yards.

Just starting out with a 308 Sauer 100 16”, NF NXS 2.5-10 Compact.

168gr ELDM
Lapua brass
BR2 primer
44gr varget
Mv 2460fps
SD 7.2
Gp @100m 0.3” - 0.6”

Anyone have similar load data to share?

168gr Amax 43gr 2206h 16inch barrel 2520fps

Have just bought a few boxes of the Superformance Match 168 eldm. Will update once I've had some over chrono but I suspect they should go about as good as it gets considering my experience with the factory 150gr sst superformance, I literally can not load any combo of 150gr that will go faster (2730fps) in my 14.5" 308

The super performance match factory 168s will be slower than that I’d say.. they are doing 2550fps in my 16in tikka, I get 2800 when reloading them 45gr 2206h fed210

You can get them doing 2800 out of a 16" ?

What kind of safety glasses so you wear ? Must be pretty robust

Just a tikka but a fast barrel! Minimal pressure signs except slight marking on brass, it sure sacks them like a wsm, my gun not my stag 😂https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8-H1y...YWNrZWQgbno%3D

I’m getting 2820 with 18” barrel using Re17 in a 300wsm. What chronie are you using? Doesn’t sound right
