Hi. Has anyone tried these and what kind of accuracy were you getting? Living down south now the the barnes isn't cutting it past 300 so looking to change up for a better all rounder. They seem to be smoking along at 2840.
Cheers.

I load them in my mates 16" 308 he has only shot one red so far but it performed well

I had excellent performance from MV 2680 out to 650 yards. 168 eldm was 0.3moa at 100 in a kimber
Mate shoots them at 2600 from his 308. Shot a sika the other day at 550 and has shot sika, tahr and chamois out to 570 too. They work alot better up close at slower speeds but if you are shooting at distance I think you will struggle to find a better performing bullet
Spot on @kiwigreen 18 inch
I think people are missing he's talking about the factory ammo. I used them and had great luck with them. I still have quite a few left even after selling my 308. I used nearly 300 of the suckers.
Yeah good to know the performance though too but yeah anyone with factory superformance experience would be good to know as they are a hot load! I've read they go quicker on the box in some rifles in 24". Standard non superformance would be too slow in 18"
I used hornady precision hunter factory ammo, same result
Haven’t tried the 168gr superformance but FWIW the 150 SST version was average in my rifle (about 1.5moa) whereas the precision hunter was exceptional (0.5moa). But the experiences of other shooters is irrelevant, you’ll need to try it for yourself. It looks like a kick arse load if your rifle likes it, but maybe a bit too explosive at close range
All Hornady stuff I've tried my rifle has liked, the most accurate was the 165gr sst. Yeah I've ordered some in, taking awhile to get down here. At the moderate speed from out of an 18" there shouldn't be too many issues at close range, not on reds anyway.
I reload the 168s, work really well but be careful to avoid the main shoulder bone as they are really soft buggers. Mine are going 2520 out of a 16" barrel but work well out to over 500 even at that velocity.
Shot a couple of hundred deer or so with them.
So these are more or less similar terminal performance wise to the A max, just with a higher BC?
Yes I believe that is correct. I think they’re very good.
So I used the Superformance match. They shot great from my 16 inch bergara I was getting 2620 or 2720 I believe. I lost my old data so will need to check back through the labradar. It was quite a bit faster than anything I could load myself. It preformed great took a few animals between 90 and 550 yards. And a lot more targets.
fella bought brand new sako in .308 salesman sold him two boxes of the 150grn superpreformance.....3 flattened primers, one blown primer out of the fourty and a lovely wee flinch developing......tried some of my hotter reloads in same rifle and absolutely NO sign of pressure...methinks they are NOT a good load to be spending good coin on...no way in hell they will be goingthrough any of my rifles.
Yeah all superformance has been accurate in my sako 75 never had any issues. If they don't work out I'll get someone to reload them for me. Looks to be a good all rounder for down here, some places it's almost impossible to get within 500 yards.
@Micky Duck
I bought a box of the 165gr SST superformance.
Had 2 very tight bolt openings after firing and flat primers so after 2 rounds I thought I'd quit whilst I was ahead.
I do know of more people having good success with the stuff to be fair
Try the 168 precision hunter. I know they work well in kimbers 10 twist
Do you mean 178gr eld-x?
Precision hunter comes in a 168 eldm
I think those ones are only going 2700, probably a bit slow in my barrel. I'll just get someone to reload for me if the superformance doesn't work out. My mate had a bad experience using the eldx in his 280ai so I won't go near those.
Yeah that's what I thought.
He may mean hornady match or hornady black ammo. 168eldm in 308
Yeah I'm sure there's only the standard match and superformance loads and then the 178 eldx
46 grains of win760
COAL 71.1mm
The targex 165 is also very accurate with this load
Threw together a load with the 168 ELD-M last week and it claimed it's first victim this afternoon. Quite different performance from the 165 Nosler BTs I have been using. Shot was quatering away at 30 yards and there was no exit. The BT would have gone straight through and left a 50mm hole in the opposite shoulder.

it will be interesting to see how much damage it has done....hopefully not too much bruising..... Ive got hind hanging in garage with holes across rump from 100yard shot and shoulder that could be a little interesting from a 180grn at 30ish yards...... the sausage meat bucket might need draining a time or three methinks.
I shot a stag at 300 with a 7mm 162 ELDM (3K) last week. Hit high in the shoulder and it made a hell of a mess. Biffed the shoulders.
The shot went behind the near shoulder and the off shoulder was hardly damaged. Gives the impression that I won't be aiming for the big bony bits on stags at close range with these projectiles. Can't complain though she didn't take a step. I have had plenty make 30-40 yards with a BT hole right through them. Not that I am knocking the BTs. They work great but need to be going a bit faster than what I was driving them in the 308.
well the first shot at hundy+ only grazed across rump making coffee cup sized hole...the close range 30ish shot in shoulder/neck was a bit of a mess..actually found bits of jacket in bruising. surprised as sierra 180grn arent known to be super soft.... stuff all meat loss really all things considered, maybe 1kg tops, pleased with outcome...
