    I’m running a 20 inch barrel with a ssrnz can with 178gr eld-x at 2950
Still short enough for bush gun and shot deer out to 650 yards no problems.Good all purpose rig

I'm talking about 18" when 10% of your powder might be blasting out the end of your barrel before its burnt.
Can the 308 burn all of its powder inside 18" ?

    ADI catalogue 2010
    308win 24" 175gr AR2208 Max 45.0gr 2690fps
    300WSM 24" 175gr AR2209 Max 65.0gr 3010fps
So, very true, the WSM starts with almost 50% more powder but could someone with quickload estimate how much can be burnt in an 18" barrel ?

    Quickload says:
    97.8% burn in 24" tube
    95.4% burn in 18"

    Thanks MG
    That looks pretty good actually.
I guess the hot gas is still accelerating the bullet over the last six inches for both cartridges.
But 95% of 65gr is still way more than 45gr.

Bagheera,, most 18 inch bangers look rather impressive when dark, with the flame flashing out off the tube.
A fare bit of shit comes out of a shorty, dont shoot over the bonnet ,it will f*** the paint lol.
