    200 gn eld-x 300 win mag AR2225 starting loads

Hi, anyone loaded these up with 2225? I’m having difficulty finding a starting load. ADI handbook not very helpful either as comparisons in their tables aren’t much better than a guess. I’d like to get them going around 2850 depending on accuracy of course. Thanks

Starting load for one is close to max for another. Been trying to find data online without any luck.

Try Mark at Custom Cartridges, I believe he has done load development on these in the 300 magnums, my .300 Blaser Magnum was done, doesn't hurt to ask...

How long is barrel? Have you considered 2217? With mine I get the 215 berger at 2880fps so 2850 shouldn't be too much of an issue.

84grn 2225 gets me 3050 fps with them.
    84grn 2225 gets me 3030 with 210vld and 212eldx.
    24 inch tube.
    Very accurate loads

26bbl, 2217 was my first choice but allowed the guy in the shop to persuade me to try 2225. Was just a bit stuck on starting load, don’t want to muck around with too many light loads getting the right numbers. @Pongo12 has solved my problem I think. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Thanks, that’s just what I’m after, I’ll start a couple of grains lower and see what I get. Nice day for loading ammo!

That seems real hot to me? I was loading 76 grains with the 215 bergers for 2950. I'd start a couple grains above minimum in your book and jump .5 grains per round untill you find first pressure signs. Remember accuracy above all else the deer won't know it was only going 2800.

Yep this is the problem though, adi does not have a load for the eldx. One 200gn load range is 73-78 and another is 79-84 both of these are for nosler projectiles. I normally do what you suggest start about 2gn below max and go up in 0.5 increments. The two book examples aren’t helpful as there is no overlap to use as a safe starting point hence my question on here.
It looks like @Pongo12 is using the book load for the 200gn partition and getting an extra 90fps.
I’ve got a copy of quick load but need to get a new pc to run it which won’t be this week.

I don't think it needs to be hard. Start at 73 and work up.

Getting 2800 with 75.5gns of 2225 norma cases 215 primers and 225eldm's 24" barrel.Haven't tried to push for more speed as it will do all I need. I see I went to 78gns with the 208 amax and about the same with 212eldx. Tried 2217 but found 2225 better.Only did a few loads with the lighter bullets and have stayed with the 225's. I'd be like Cartman and start around 74gns and work up. Best accuracy was touching but have settled on .020 for hunting and still getting plenty good enough groups. IMO 2217 sorta pecks with the 200gnrs and 2225 starts to come into its own then but every rifle is different

Agreed not hard but I don’t want to use a starting load that may be 6gn below the correct starting load. My understanding is too little can be as much as a problem as too much.

That's using norma brass, cci magnums. 85 grn has a tiny bit of pressure sign showing. It's very accurate loads and has never let me down. Plenty of hitting power too.
