212 ELD-X 300BLK Loads.
Anybody done anything with these subsonic?
Not too worried about lack of expansion, just want to know that they will work. i.e no feeding or loading issues.
Also any powder recommendations? I have been using 2205 for supers with 125 grainers and 2218 for subs with 240gr casts. These will be out of a 12.5" AR
Cheers in advance guys

If they are anything like the 208 A-max they should have great accuracy.
-
should work fine. Lil Gun is my favorite for everything 300AAC

H4198 or re7 for your subs mate. 11.2grain is normally about the sweet spot with anything from 194 Lehigh to 240SMK but start high and work down. (Opposite to supers). Lil gun and h110 are the best options with supers. Generally h110 will get you better velocity. But what ever the rifle likes at the end of the day. Good luck

Hmmmm will be very interested on terminal performance of the eld-x as as a sub based round as the Amax was primarily a "frangible" round caused by a high fps rate at POI. So how does that work here???
Barnes, Belmont and Leigh high with oversized ogives and laser cut or softened jackets I get but a Amax / eld-x nah don't get it. For sub's any way!
Enlighten me some one.

Cheers guys, I meant to type that I was using 2219 for subs.
-
Yeah, they definitely don't expand, headshots are the go.
-
Best you can hope for, and often get is a tumbling wound channel mate, which is extremely effective. Otherwise save your spare pennies and get some Lehigh expanding subs

If you want bang for your buck grab som 208 eld match. We've got them for $79/100 at Hornady Projectiles - Black Watch Reloading

Agree, don't go with these as sub's to much chance of pencil thru - just like Sierra SMK's or FMJ's - good for punching paper that about it!
Invest in something soft with a healthy likelihood of expansion. Speer hot cors, Barnes Tac Tx, leigh high ME's - even a Nosler 125 hunting (at an outside) would be better.

Definitely all good choices for the BLK. Add to that list 125sst's and 125 Speer TNT. The sst and nosler get the same results. The TNT are pretty frangible and great value for snotting varmints. Barnes TAC Tx are in a league of their own when it comes to performance on bigger game
