    22.250

What is the best powder for a 55g projectile in 22.250?

mine likes AR2209. I use Hornady 55gr SP's and Federal Match primers. Easy thumbnail group at 100m with no real load development. What made is the rifle? Do you know the twist rate?

They really honk with W760. I used 40 grns, but that's up there.

748, BM2 and 2208 don't look like they would have too much difference in speed.... how long is your barrel?. what speed were you getting?

36 years ago I bought a Tikka 22.250 and started reloading for it with 34.5 gns IMR4895 and 60 gn pills. Shot like crazy up until about 4 years ago when I had problems getting 4895, so tried Norma 201 - shot like crazy. Ran out of N201 last year so tried both 748 and 2206H, both shot like crazy, but the 2206H clocked in at 3623fps so 2206H is now my go to powder for the 22.250. That Tikka can still put 5 shots under the magic inch!

That and 60 grain partitions would be a deadly combo on most game in nz

    my t3 varmint loves 35.5 of 08 pushing the 52 g amax at 3680.that is a 1/2 moa load.
A mate and myself and our kids shot 125 magpies out to 290 last week for the ohignaiti kids hunt.
the little fxxkxxs thought they were safe but the dirty old 22-250 sorts them out!
