Using say 50gr VMax?
in a 26" 1:14 twist with 55gr ballistic tips 200fps going from most acurate load to most acurate load...both just back from preasure signs 2209 37gr - 39gr from memory
now gone 1:8 twist with the 75gr amax but can't remember the data for that and not fire that non AI
22-204 53 Vmax, 3700-3750fps, 31 grains of powder, 22" barrel
The 53 Vmax needs at least 1-12 twist, it is qiute long, 0.290 BC apparently :o
oh and the speed was 3760fps in the AI or there abouts with the 55gr
We never tried the slow twist AI with lapua brass, wasn't out then... but then those loads we used weren't full Rah as they grouped better back a bit, but how many firings have you had a 3800 and did you measure the case streach length wise? Thats why we went AI initialy as the brass needed triming to often
How long was the barrel?
I like the idea of 22-204, but i have a BUNCH of once fired 22-250 Winchester brass I picked up for a song.. and dies
So how much is there in the AI?
I see Leathels velocity in AI is same as Tussocks std?
Leathel - 1-14 for that one?
What twist Tussock?
[QUOTE=Spanners;37946]So how much is there in the AI? 200fps for the same preasure for me
I see Leathels velocity in AI is same as Tussocks std? I will have to look up the tagets but our top speed was around 39 something but groups opened up QUOTE]
I dont know if 22-250 Lapua brass would have handled more than the Rem brass I had but I suspect if its like my 243AI it looks like it does until about the 4th firing then I got primer blows :XD: with the 22-250AI it was a mates so didn't load too hot
I have a 1:14 barrel 22-250AI that will come of soon that has done about 500 rounds.... as that action is for my next build...and have formed brass from that barrel :)
I'm doing 3650 comfortably with a 52gr of Bryns with 2206H and very good accuracy in a standard, unsure if I'd like to push for 3800.
Have no experience with the AI
Yeah, I'm kinda stuck with a 1-14 till I wear it out.
But I like my barrel, its pretty.
Blackened flutes etc
The 22-250 would really come alive with a 1-8 twist & 75 Amaxs :)
Throw in some Lapua brass, good powder selection & it would be out standing
I think the best thing you can do with a 22-250 is ream it out to 22-243 this is what i plain on doing one day with a savage 1-9 twist ..... one day
I found shooting rabbits from 400m+ disappointing with any rifle because you dicked around with spotting scopes, spotters, more misses than hits because of environmental issues even with fast twist rifles. It just took the quick fire rabbit shooting game away and turned it into a drawn out boring as f@$k day with a 20% kill rate. Give me rabbits out to 300m any day, keep it simple, point and shoot for varmints, way more enjoyable imo

What powder was pushing it tussock? I am using a leisurely 34.5 gr of 2208 behind a 55gr soft point. My do everything load. When I tried it it was super accurate and I just went with it. Probably not going very fast but now I have it suppressed I should try do some proper development and crony it
when Robs rifle was std we were no were near 3800 with tight lift but that was with 2208, BM2 was used on 52 gr pills and still way short of that with preasure
Rob was allways why would you shoot that far away....can't see them.... and that was 300yrds
Last night he stepped it out the 425 for his longest kill, just using the reticle for drop and chart I did to the reticle (ranged) Dialing is a bit to confusing for him so I doubt he will go much further :P
The animals did pop better with the 55's though but the 75gr stays in line
