    2217, where is it?

So my local has run out, Palmerston North Clothing and Fishing (to be fair they do usually have a decent stock of powders).

Anyone know where I can get some ADI AR 2217? That isn't too far from home? I work in transport so could probably get some picked up for me further afield if I can't find any local (ish).

    TIA

Following your advice I brought some at Gun City today - Auckland store - their website says they have it in low quantities in Napier.

They were out of that too, not much of anything on the shelf. Glad I've got a couple bottles of 2206h for the 308 and a bit of 2208 for the latté. Just not much rem mag food left

Had a retailer try to tell me 2208 is H414 in a different tin. They may burn the same but they are different powders.
Except 2217 is exactly the same powder it's bought in bulk from ADI by Hodgkins and packaged as H1000
Just like 2225 is bought in bulk from ADI and packaged as retumbo.
I'm not suggesting they are equivalent or similar burn rate, they are the same powder.
But hell what do I care buy what ya like

A mate of mine didnt believe that 2209 was h4350.
I rang the importer and he confirmed it.
My mate wouldn't beleive me so sent an email to ADI and they confirmed it was from the same pot as well as a few others so some powders are the same!

I believe that H414 is Winchester 760. This was suspected but never admitted until recently when Hodgdon took over marketing Winchester powders. Except for a few black powder replacement powders Hodgdon does not manufacture powder but has it manufactured by others after the original WW2 surplus ran out. Since Hodgdon purchased IMR there has been some cross over with Trail Boss (made in Oz by ADI) carrying the IMR label and similarly BM8208 (also made in Oz by ADI) being Marketed as IMR8208 XBR in the US. Still always best to check the data for what is marked on the can though.

As an aside, I was looking to check on 2217 availability and see that reloaders are stocking win sta-ball 6.5. This has some good speed in some cartridges 7mm08 150gr@2900 and 3006 165gr@3000.

Could tempt a man to trade in his magnum
