Have a Greener. 222 rimmed Les but a bit far away for you.
Hey Smokey Jason, thanks for helping me out with the Hornet brass on your last trip to NZ appreciated. I could send you 100 live reload rounds of 222: 55grn Hornady # 2266: 18.5grn ADI 2207. Do you know anyway I can freight live rounds from NZ to Victoria?
How did the Thar hunt go?
Best regards, Hugh
Hey, if you can't get one for 222R, you could possibly use a 223 loader.
223 case is 1.750" long.
222R case is 1.70" long.
Both use 0.224" bullets
Just machine about 0.50 off the base of the neck sizing die and use a smaller scoop. Bobs your uncle.
Neck thickness??
you after 222remington or 222rimmed???? and no you cant use a 223 one.
Well if it is 222R You won't find one
But easy to shorten a 222 Lee classic by the with of the rim
Then the rim front face will stop the case on the die rear face
Love my new 222R
But it's a cartridge with lots of accuracy potential and probably deserves a proper reloading set up
I shall rephrase...you cannot sucessfully reload 222rem using 223rem dies...you just cant size enough of the neck for it to work.....and if your going to mutilate a set of 223 dies..you may as well buy new 222rem ones.
You can borrow mine for 6 months free as recovering from hip op.
Thxks I'm just about all sorted.
The neighbour isn't that flash on the phone, our local sports store is useless to acquire anything, I rang around closer to Melbourne and found what he wanted, some 222rem and
300 win mag, last salesman, probably the local guy, told him 300 wm be 14 bucks a round, wasn't going to pay that no way. The ones I've got a hold of are win 180 gr at 75 dollars, which is not too bad for this age.
180grn should be big enough for those hog deer etc.....might keep someones knickers from getting in a know.
@SmokeyJason being nosey now but where in Vic are u?
third road past the wonky gum tree....
If you do venture towards Melbourne, Mialls or Clayton firearms are generally pretty good
John Miall's gun shop on Playne Street used to be my go to gs. Back in day before he bought out the whole block and expanded.
Packenham firearms and alpine in morwell treat me well, not cheap cheap but nobody is these days.
They are also friendly which is not a known trait of Australians.
Any good outfits in Adelaide or area worth a visit for a kiwi sightseeing?
I have a spare super simplex turret .222 rimmed die, 2 rods and shell holder if you want it.
I'll let you know next week.
there is a set of lee whackamole 222 remington dies sitting waiting for this fine gentleman to collect..they were gifted to me by another of the forums fine gentlemen so its only right they should be passed forward when the oppertunity arose.
near as I can tel lthe old red spoon/dipper is 1.77cc it has 108 printed on it..ASSUMABLY thats .108 of a cubic inch??? it measures between my 1.6cc and 1.9cc dippers so looks correct.
have looked up what that should throw powder wise as seems about right for trebly and lighter (ess than 50grn)projectiles.
Spot on you be
