222 Remington 60gr Hornady SP load

Just worked up a load for my .222 Remington barrel for my K95. It has a 1:12” twist.
Used 22.8gr Benchmark 2, Lapua brass, Federal small rifle primer. COL of 2.158”.
    Average velocity of 2990 fps.
3 shots at 100 went 3/8” centre to centre.

Final group was the 3 shots circled in black. Was the easiest load development and sightin I’ve done. Load up 1 round each of 21.5, 21.8, 22.1, 22.5 and 22.8 grains. 22.8 gave the velocity I was after and no pressure signs. I had bore sighted and at 25yds they all printed in one ragged hole in the bull.
Back to 100 yards, first shot was 5” high, adjusted down, went 1” low. Came up 7 clicks and shot a 3 shot group. The one to the right. Then went up 1 and left 1.

What length is the barrel? That's a pretty decent return on powder burnt and should tip over even reasonable sized critters well when you poke them in the right spot.

@Steelisreal 23.6” barrel, yep heard good reports of the 60gr projectile. Was a toss up with them or the 63gr Sierra. Still might try the Sierras at some point.

The 63 SMP is very accurate and is a good game bullet in the .222 even in the 14" twist barrel

The 60gn Hornady or the 63gn Sierra have been my go to projectiles for the 222, 223 and 22-250 for years. 24gn's of 748 does the trick.

The 63gr Sierra duplicates the 64gr PMC in 223 which my son killed many many deer with. Never thought of using that pill in the triple deuce. 748 is a magic powder for 308.
