Thread: 223 53gr HP Match

Been slim pickings down here 4 sports shops latter and Hornady 53gr HP Match are about the only hollow points I could come up with , anyone used these on Deer ? , bloke at gun city reckoned they would hold together .

52grn hp speers MAY BE the anwser you need....as they are short they could well work for you.
Ive used them and the 50grn version with much smaller hp sucessfully .

I was hoping to avoid ordering anything as it probably wont arrive till Thursday , pretty poor selection of projectiles down here atm , hunting & fishing have stopped stocking projectiles all together !!.

Gunworks in CHCH....the ladies are great to deal with and service sure is FAST.....we get stuff arrive next day at times.

What are you looking for? I have a few odd boxes of projectiles, let me know what you're interested in and I'll go check out my cupboards.

Fare enough ! not sure if they have any left or at least I rung them today to ask what they had in stock , never mentioned them .

just after something a bit different to what Iv been using which is ppu 55gr which is pretty average & sierra 55gr spbt , rifle is a Cz 1:12 , ttsx are out , was wondering if a 50 or 55 GMX would stabilise but as mentioned lack of stock down here at the mo , so I grabbed the last pack of 53gr hornady HP #2250 , some 55gr sierra HP would probably be the go , what have ya got ?

50 GMX and Barnes 50 got excellent accuracy in 1-12 .223. Got both from Gunworks, they have the 15 unit sample packs if you want to try only.

tetawa....shhh dont mention the barnes.......they spray like a shotgun with buckshot through this fellas rifle....its got me buggered as mine has same twist and handles them fine....

I use both the 52gr and 69gr Targex bullets from Brynn in Auckland. They are outstanding. And both have the same POI in my rifle. Incredibly accurate.

Have these if you want to try them, quantities are written on the boxes.


And I have some of the Gunworks Bulk 55gn SP's Nosler [?] and some bulk 55gn SP hornady's if you want some sent to try. Am heading down the flatland tomorrow and could get them in the post, PM me an address.
