Morning all. Am shooting savage weather warrior .223 1and9 twist. Shooting 55gr benchmark2 26g
Works well for deer at 200m neck shoots looking to move up to 60gr just for a project any1 got a good projectile that you are using. sp/vmax ? And if so any load data happy to continue with the benchmark as 55gr very accurate.

I shot the 55 gr sp Hornady for years and had no dramas at all with it.

I never intentionally body shoot deer and the like with a 223 but have fluffed a few shots over the years into the body and was surprised how effective the small bullets can be.

However, I changed to the 62gn scirocco just because. My load is the same and I get the same velocity as I did with the 55 Hornady.

Haven't shot anywhere near as many animals with the scirocco as I have with the Hornady but they go as expected with clean shots.

Tried the 65 game king as well. Doesn't shoot as tight as the other 2 I have used but it is still pretty good and I like it.

All 3 projectiles shoot the same POI in my rifle and that works for me as far as I am happy to shoot deer with it.

I fluffed a shot with the game kings on a yearling the other day.

Long story short I eventually hit the poor bugger in the ass as it was trotting away.

I had to give the dog half the meat from the hind quarters as they were really badly bruised right thru both sides. Wasted a week of power in the chiller.

To be fair, if I could get nothing but the 55 Hornady I would still be happy. It's a great wee bullet.

I have witnessed what a 60gr Nosler Ballistic tip does to adult red deer at 230 yards, shoulder shot. I have pics. Smashed bones, did a real number on it. Equally as effective on bunnies at same range.

55 gr sierra hpbt have always been my go to in mine (1:10 zastava) I have used the 65 gr gamekings but found no real difference in performance on game. Its more about shot placement and i dont thiink the extra 10 grains of bullet weight do much at all.
