    .223 Barnes 55 grn TTSX

I loaded some of these for my .223 to try out on deer. 27 grns 2208 worked ok. My first opportunity though was on a few pigs at 170-230 yards.
I hit this chap in the neck, and it exited out of his shoulder. The off side shoulder was a busted up mess. Very effective. Similar on a sow, in lungs, out shoulder.

    In...

Out...(you can see the red dot where it came out of the shoulder)

Seems effective! Just got a 223 myself and been contemplating what to feed it for Goats/Wallabies, so many choices... Its 1:9 twist (like yours if its what I think it is) so the heavier rounds could be an option too.

Its the fluted bolt, carved stock, 20" barrel savage light weight. Yes, 1:9 twist. Stabilizes the 69 grn Targex well too, which is a good hunting bullet.

Thought it was I was considering one too, but went for a Savage American Classic instead as the price was just too good to say no. Bit heavier but a really nice rifle.

They are magazine length. 10 thou off the lands. The 27 grns of 2208 I quoted is right on the limit for my rifle.

Thanks.Have you tried the 53? Just getting a feel because I have to do some experimenting with 222 and 223.

The 53 grn TSX (not tipped) actually shot better with BM2 than the 55grn TTSX did with 2208. But I ran out of BM2 & the 53 TSX so have stuck with the 55grn TTSX/2208 because thats what I have left. The difference in accuracy was only maybe .25moa.

    Cheers
