A 75 gr A-Max would be a pretty heavy pill for a short barrel.
Hornady's "Handbook of Cartridge Reloading" recommends a 1:8 twist barrel for the 75 gr A-Max.
For target shooting we're using an 80 gr A-Max in a Savage Model 12 .223 with a 26" 1:7 twist barrel.
Norma cases with 24.7 gr ADI2208.
