I use milsurp brass and rate it as good as any other brand.

No run out. Lasts for ages. And the best bit is it was free.

Just took a bit of effort to get the primer pockets to point where they work on my progressive press.

I'm using ppu brass which is the same as highland I think never had problems with it in the past

Had a thought. Load up a dummy round and try and chamber it by hand just pushing the back of the BCG with your finger. Not under the influence of the buffer spring. See how that goes.

OK I'll try it am I seeing if bolt closes easily

This may be a stupid suggestion but have you had it head spaced? I assume you now have the NEA bolt in the spanners barrel.

No I havnt I'm on the search for some gauges to check it would it be safe to assume if the bolt closes on a Winchester factory round that its ok

Not necessarily. The "No go"gauge will indictate excessive headspace if it chambers.

It may bee too much. Were the primers protruding?

A Canadian made bolt with Asian made barrel might be at too extremes of the "mill spec" limits...

@R93 beat me to it.

Not sure where the barrels made I think its an over run from a military order from memory if I have to buy gauges I suppose I should get go and no go instead of just no go

Primers don't protrude just flat level with the back of the case

poke the pointy end of your case deburring tool in primer pocket and give it a couple of whirls.....sort of champher/countersink the very lip of primer pockets.....new ones slide in like a well greased pr*#k up a slack f#nny.... from then on.

Things that would increase pressure - projectile seated to deep, short lead, tight throat, excessively low case capacity. Shoot your loads through another AR and have a look. I have only ever seen thermo-nuclear warm handloads give blown primers in a Nato cut chamber. That was an insanely hot 77gr load.

Yeah. I do it a bit quicker with a countersink bit in the drill.

Still a pain as I did a couple thousand 50 at a time. And used a giraud tool to trim and chamfer. They are all loaded up now. So less work loading them next time for the ones I manage to pick up.
