    223 load needed

Am contimplating reloading for my baikal 223 anyone know of a good projectile and powder charge to run through it? Has had the barrel shortened considerable to Mae it the same length as the stock, will put a tape on it tonight.

Or is it not going to be worth the hassle of reloading a 223 and if not can you recommend a good factory brand? Running hornady through my other 223 so does make sense to start reloading for both

ADI 2206H powder works well in short barrelled rifles especially in 223. You will have to do load development as my 223 load might shoot poorly in your rifle etc projectile choice all depends on what you are wanting to shoot with it.

Unless you shoot more than 300 rounds a year, its probably not worth reloading, especially for a .223, as the outlay for gear is going to set you back at least $400 for a lee kit, dies, powder, projectiles, primers etc.

As you mention, the Hornady 55gn SP tend to go well in most rifles.

We have a Savage Model 12 VLP DBM 223 1:7 twist 26" barrel.
24.7 gr 2208 for 80 gr A-Max projectiles in Norma cases, shoots well out to 800 yards, out to 1000 in light airs, used for target shooting.

What is your barrel length and twist rate?

I'm using 55 gr Hornady SP's and 2208 in my Baikal.
    Very happy with the results.
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !
