    223 loads for wind

Hey what are folks' thoughts on the most effective loads/projectiles to buck wind - with a 223 and a 1:12 twist. This is for a gong shooting load for my son.

I've looked at quite a few 224 projectile BC's (those under 62 grains) and there's nothing head and shoulders above the rest that I can see . . . . am I missing something?

53 gr vmax is probably the best bc bullet you will shoot out of a 12 twist.
Drift being both a fuction of bc and speed run some numbers and see what you get.

Any match bullets in the 52-53 grain range will give the best accuracy and velocity; .224" bullets under 68 grains
are not any help in the wind even the 75 & 80 grains suffer in gusty conditions,
shooting with light bullets is the best way to learn reading the wind
AR 2206H AR 2208 WW748 Reloader 10 are good powders to try you want accuracy more than velocity
I got the highest velocity with WW748 in my Fulbore rifle but the accuracy was better with AR2208
the more accurate the load the better it performs in the wind.
