    223 reloading help

Ok - I have some BM2 and some 65gr SBT Sierra projectiles

Load data is a bit vague on the 65gr projectiles - usually only have 63 or 69

    whats my max powder load?

Being over gunned is under rated.

You will have to work out the max yourself tbf Vapour. Too many variables can effect your load from one chamber and barrel to the next.
I would start at or just below the min for 62 gr and work up slowly.
    What twist is your barrel?

1/8 twist T3 :53gr Sierra 26 gr BM2; 63/65gr Sierra 24 gr BM2. Have found Sierra a very accurate pill. Going to run some 65 gr Sierra out of the WSSM for long range goats.

How good are the groups for the 65gn in a 1/9 twist?, might try speers in my Rem ADL. I generally use the 55gn sp in front of 26gns of 2206 for 3230fps which tips the goats over well but need the heavier proj for the odd deer that steps out @ longer range.--150yds plus

I'm getting 0.5-0.7" average with the 65s in my 1 in 8" Sako, as its seated quite a long way back from the rifling to fit the mag.
Good enough for first shot hits/kills on turkeys at 360m - 410m.

Only 0.7-0.8" average in my 1 in 9" AR15, as its not a free floating barrel.

Sierra confirms the 63gr and 65gr data are interchangeable.[I sent them an email many moons back] Look at Hodgdon and ADI load data.

I am using the 63gr sierra SMP projectiles in my .223 with 25gr of BM2. The XBR powder would be a good powder to use in the 223. Between my fatehr and i we have shot a lot of deer over the years with this combination.

Slightly off topic, but I went to the 69grn Targex because of their higher BC, lower price and availability. BM2 was ok, but 2206 is great. 3k from 20” barrel (chrono). Warm load (work up) of 26grns.

Great on deer. Have used them out to 300 yds under ideal conditions.
And cheap enough to blaze away at bunnies and small critters.
And they are an NZ product.

    1:9 Its a little Savage ligth-weight thingy.
Groups .5/.75, a better shot would get one holers. I can only do that with one shot groups.

So, I do mine with 24.2gn and I get this group at 100 meters...Name: image.jpg
Views: 587
Size: 606.0 KB they are 10 shots.
I use the same load for my 69gn SMK. I shoot it from my Tikka T3 Lite with a 20" barrel.
