.224 62GR Sciroccos Swifts.

Not sure if many know the .224 swift comes in 62Gr now opposed to just having the 70Gr in .224 for a long while. I was alerted to the new projectile by a fellow member, and another sourced some for me.

They have a rather high BC for a .224 projectile of its size of .309 wich have matched all soloutions in shooter for me so far, out to 550yrds.

I use a charge of 26gr BMII behind them in military brass for my .223 barrel getting 3240fps with no pressure signs. I only use the brass once anyway.
I have not shot anything significant with them yet other than a few varmits and some steel but so far, I am very happy with the accuracy.
I never try to body shoot larger animals with my .223, so projectile choice is not an issue but if I have to, I think these will go ok.
Expensive at a dollar a pop but performance always defeats cost.:thumbsup:

They are what I had in mind when I had Abe build my .223, but I haven't been able to get any good consistent groups :XD: I think part of the problem is the short sako mag and having to seat them so deep.

No! Your problem is your using them thru a sako:D

Thats a bugger! I have a bit of jump on mine as they went better with some, rather than near the lands.

What is your barrel twist?

The 130 scirocco's will not shoot in my .260 Improved very well.

I've considered these for the Maximus, but don't want to by a box to find they don't group. I believe I could push them at 3450-3500.

Their BC is outstanding! Buy they are a little long for my 1:12 barrel and suspect they might go sideways :(

Yes and no. Ream your chamber deeper and dont send me any, they won't fly in the 1:12 - I don't think its worth trying.

From 1:9 or tighter there shouldn't be any issues. Maybe a 1:10 could do it, but at longer ranges they might start the whole sideways flight thing....

I will send you some in a few weeks. They should go well in a 1:7. Mine is 1:9

I may bring them up and come for a fish around the 22nd? I still have to pick up my clay machines in Nelson. I will fill her up for ya but if I catch no fish I will whinge like you never heard before:thumbsup:

Whingers in my boat get a close look at the seabed structure to check for Anchor Holding potential (usually while holding the anchor).......................................

Yup, 22nd Feb. Planning on visiting a friend who I have bought the machines off around then. She lives near the Nelson Gun Club. So I should bring my dive gear for checking the anchor holding potential?:)

You better search your wagon or boat if I go fishing with you. I always stash some cash if it is refused.

Fishing would be awesome but I will leave my dive gear at home. I get enough crays when I need them. Dont even have to get wet lately. I will PM closer to the time if it all works out.
I will bring the neglected F3 up for a bang as well.

Got a 1-9" for them. Shoots great with 55grers.

Swifts do seem fickle throughout the cals for some reason. My 260 improved using the 130 swifts will touch 2 then throw one about 1.5-2" out. Like a the rifle has a bedding problem. My 6.5-06 loved them.
Happy the .223 likes them. They seem to go really well so far.

Yeah my 284 would put them into .5"-.75" with a .010 jump. The .223 does shoot heavier pills. I tried some 69gr targex and got some nice .5" groups :)

From what I hear those targex are as good as any out there anyway. Not sure what the LR potential is like.

Na. I had a big spend up on rods gear just recently. It is almost starting to look as organised as my hunting and shooting gear and that is saying something.:oh noes:

I only have one boat rod tho. My boy skyped me yesty and snapped his trout rod on snag using 9lbs line, the day I left. He may need a 25-50kg weight boat rod for trout fishing, the mutton:thumbsup:

Would they give any great advantage over the 55grn Barnes TTSX, which has a lower BC but more speed?
Just wondering if its worth trying them. Im pretty happy with the barnes so far.

Maybe see a difference at LR, but otherwise I doubt it there will be much point in changing considering the price.
I plan to use them for some comps and LR varmiting.

Bruce just use the 62 grains Barnes if you want to step up, coincidentally I actually have both the 62 grain Barnes and Swifts here at home.

Ment to say you wont need anything, Have enough gear to fill a small dingy. If you manage to break one of my trolling / jigging rods your eyes might water a bit

I was thinking more about expansion. The 55 Barnes can pencil at longer ranges and I think the 62 Barnes would be worse. Just thought the swifts might be a bit softer at longer range. Have you got the 62 grn swifts?

What about the Nosler 64gr Solid Base bullet, lower BC but I think the expansion would be beter.

Just found a full unopened box of Hornady 75gn A-Max projectiles and a part box.
Don't work to well in a "rattle gun" as they need to be seated too deep, (almost past the start of the Ogive) to fit in the mag
Should work in a bolt gun OK
