Thread: 225gr eld match

Gidday team I'm looking for load data on the 225gr eld match in 300 win mag,any one have the latest book or personal experience running adi 2217 ?

I'm using them with good results. When developing loads I started with 208 amax's, 212 eldx's and 215 bergers before the 225's. Gave up on 2217 as I was getting high pressure signs and not a lot of speed. Accuracy was very good though. I went to 2225 and pressure signs dropped and accuracy stayed so never tried 2217 with the 225's. IMO 2217 may sorta peek with 200-212grain projectiles and It's worth going to a slower powder. I'm getting about 2750fps without pressure signs and have loaded up a couple more to hopefully get 2800fps but not worried if I don't. Just need to catch up with the guy I know with the lab radar to try them. Using a bergara 1-10 twist 24" barrel , 75.5gns 2225 in norma cases and fed 215 primers, 20 thou jump.

I was using Norma brass and Federal 215m primers. Running 79-80 grains of 2217 which is over max. Got 2800fps over a lab radar. Just showing some light pressure signs. That was in a remington with a 26in Krieger barrel.
I sold that rifle and I'm currently running a 24inch sako 300 mag with the 208 ELDM's and getting 2925fps from 79.4 grains of 2217. Once again couple grains over book max but about 0.5 grains below pressure signs.
