    243 load data wanted

Looking to do a few loads for my old man, was thinking about getting the 95gr hornady sst and 2208.

Anyone have a good reliable load?

    How long is his barrel?

I've just done some load development for my Dad's model 7 with 18.5" barrel.

Wanted to run 100g if possible, and wanted to get keep reasonable velocity from the short barrel.

Ended up using 7828ssc. 47gr shoots well with 95 SST and 100 sgk's.

Here's my 74 yr old Dad shooting it.

If yours has a standard length barrel 2209 is probably the better powder to use.

    Whanganui,

I used a load of 95 grain SST and 42 grains of 2209 out of my Brno with a 23 inch barrel.
With the bullets just off touching the lands this load chronographed 3020 fps, and shot three shot groups into an inch at 100 m.

He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

85g Sierra HPBT over 41g 2209 works for me.
47.2g 2217 and 100 Sierra SP also works.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

All depends on the rifle. I'm working on a load for my rem 700 at moment using 87g vmaxes

Funny you should mention that, I had him on about his very old school muffs. I had two pair of good muffs with me but he wanted to use his.

He's deaf and has hearing aids already, use to be a competitive skeet shooter (shit loads of shots).

The books told me I could get a higher velocity with the 2209 than 2208, and plus I happened to have already have some. But you could make a decent load with 2208 if that's all you got.
The max load from ADI for 2208 and a 95 grain bullet is 35 grains for 2996 fps, depending on your rifle.

85g Sierra HPBT with 44.4 2209, a number of us use this load to devasting effect, also produces great velocity and impact shock....
