I have shot Tahr and deer out to 300yds with that bullet at 3100fps, largest, a big bodied 10pt Red stag at 260odd yds (one shot in the engine room) , ballistics of a brick, but a tough bullet that does damage. Switched to the 95SST at 3000fps and it is even better, but the best is the 95VLD (or it's equivalent 95 Targex).

I was running the 95 SST and VLD in tandem for close and far, and they were/are great. Now I want a .243 again!

I was told that sst blow up on shoulders and don't penetrate.

I found that my Winchester deer season xp with a fancy fat bullet did the same.

I'll be loading up some 100 grain Pro hunter. A cousin has some sst that I was going to try.

I know it seems silly. I am trying to find out from others what actually happens as I have only shot a few deer.

If you don't have anything useful to add then jog on.
