Yip as above. Sierra 85 hp. 42-44 grains 2209
To what distances have you guys with the 85gr hp's been shooting deer?
I have shot Tahr and deer out to 300yds with that bullet at 3100fps, largest, a big bodied 10pt Red stag at 260odd yds (one shot in the engine room) , ballistics of a brick, but a tough bullet that does damage. Switched to the 95SST at 3000fps and it is even better, but the best is the 95VLD (or it's equivalent 95 Targex).
I was running the 95 SST and VLD in tandem for close and far, and they were/are great. Now I want a .243 again!
Sierra 85 is no long range pill for sure but put to 300 odd yards you won’t go wrong.
See come to the .243 thread and on the very first page there already at handbags at dawn:XD::XD::XD: ones even throwing tread mills and keyboards and the other is look for someone who once said something to throw them:wtfsmilie:;)
Lol yep everybody's on edge lately. Ill go with the 2209 as it's always easy to get and I have it, I'll sort out a load, clean it and put it in storage with its mate's, the little Oberndorf .250 will be the sneak around rifle.
Yep tell ya mum next time not to add cucumbers to those sandwiches
W760 / H414. Same powder difference label. Work real well in the 243 with bullets between 70-90gr..
Ball powder, meters well
That's what I use for 87gr vld's. Works well well for me.
Just use standard hodgdon load data.
opps no longer listed.
90gr says 41gr up to a max of 43.5gr
