    .243 loads

About to start reloading for a .243 I’m setting up for my son, going to shorten and suppress ,Winchester model 70,mostly bush hunting Sika and some reds, maybe a bit of longer range fallow on broken farmland with max of 250m ,what’s the forum team use in their setups,1/10 twist barrel I believe..I have 2206h powder on hand so would prefer to stick with that as it’s what I use in my .308 but am open to other suggestions. Thanks

    I use 2209 with the 90gr eld-x.
Lots of people rate the Sierra 85gr Gameking BTHP, it shoots well in my rifle but haven't used it on an animal.
The Prohunter 100gr flatbase shot well too, and would be a good bush option.
The 103gr eld-x wouldn't stabilise in my 1:10 twist so I'd give that one a miss.

The serria 85gr HPBT is a great bullet that should go will with the short barrel and 2206h. You might just find a packet of nosler 85gr tucked in with the rifle....

The sierra 85gr hpbt are a wicked little projectile, haven't seen any come into the country in a long time

90gr nosler bt would be my pick with 2206h

mate...find what projectiles you can get...85-100grn all work...you DONT NEED FLASH HARRY plastic tips...cup n core work, have done for years.... look in manual, find load with 2206,go middle of range up to hot and shoot a FEW groups...its an EBRG it will shoot better than you can...if not PM me,I know a thing or two about them model 70s..... then just go shoot stuff.
forget the chronicgraph...just loadem up and knockem down.....if its accurate and you poke pill in right place, your freezer will stay full.
both Tony Orman and Philip Holden used EBRG to great effect...Tony used 100grn and shot for shoulders to break locomotion and give projectile something to expend itself on..... made sence all those years ago and still does today.

    40gr of AR2209 behind any 80gr ~ 100gr standard soft point.
I have owned three 243's and the above combination has been accurate and reliable at killing in all of them.

My mate shot a massive 14pter with 55gr Barnes. Yet to score it. Going to be well over 300 DS. Not bad for an ex pig hunter. Yes the 80 grainers are very good as well. Have scored some 2213sc so might roll them up for an autumn looksee.

Think that's about max on the Barnes data but it was good as gold in my forbes and got along at close to 3200 from a 18.5" barrel.
