Lots of great ideas re pills and a consensus on powder - I should be able to work something out with that lot. I just could not bring myself to undo the A1 in the end so bought a Savage LWH model 11 in .243 which I think will be a suitable platform for the 6x45. I've not had a play with it yet other than a quick inspection. Needs a suppressor up front to give it a little bit of front end weight. Feels nice though with a wood stock and black action and barrel. Will need to make it fit me with a cheek piece but apart from that and bedding the action it should be all go
