A mate rezized a hole bunch of 308 brass but didn't have much luck getting it to shoot so would suggest getting 260 brass
In my opinion 260 is better suited to 120-130gn bullets than 140 plus
But there are those like gimp that will disagree

I have a awesome 260 but don't have much experience with reloading it unless you call trying a few of my mates handloads shooting ok enough for hunting and sticking with that recipe experience lol

Definitely agree about projectiles of 120-130 class being better suited for the .260Rem at normal to moderate hunting ranges.

The 140s and up come into their own for LR stuff. Hopefully used just at targets beyond certain ranges at standard .260 speeds.

Take a look at the 6.5 Super LR:

    6.5 Super LR

Improved 260 with no fireforming required. Dean Maisey has reamer.

Would it be worth the hassle when 260 and 6.5 Creedmoor are almost as good, but can get factory ammo and don't need custom dies?
Would be worth considering as an alternative to 260AI, no fire forming sounds good.

It is just a .260 AI with a 30° shoulder.

No fire forming is not exactly true. You still have to pump the shoulder out to 30deg and lengthen the neck. What they mean by that statement on the website is, you can either fire factory 260 or standard reloaded 260 in that chamber, use it for hunting or what ever and it will be formed. You can also do this for the 40deg version but it usually takes 2 firings to properly form that case.

And appears to be going similar speeds to a 260 so why bother.

I think I remember reading Ackley played with the 30° shoulder but don't know if it should be classed as an Ackley or improved. Either way I like cartridges like that.

Fred Huntington of RCBS fame was a 28deg man, he believed that was the right recipe. Look at most of your proven target rounds like the BR, CM, Lapua and the likes, they are all 30deg. PO Ackley was regarded as a radical man of the sport with his improvements
