A 150 Nosler BT 7mm is .493 which is way better than the Fusions. And the 150 Nosler can be sent off pretty quick which is a catch up on the lack of BC. I just dial in the correction which is only a tiny bit more because of the so called "low" bc.

    Same with wind.

Its only if I was consistently shooting over 500 yards would I worry about the difference between .440 and .590/.600

Mind you, I'm only speaking from my own world of personal experience so that's a limiting factor in itself.
    Good points here.

I used to load 150 BTs for a mate with milsurp sniper ammo. Just pulled the FMJs, neck sized and seated the BTs and they were superb, if a bit damaging, but I prefer a damaged carcass to a lost one.

High BCs are attractive, but generally not necessary, however, high BC bullets still work at closer ranges. My 180 ELD-Ms have mega BC, which gives me the option of long shots combined with decreased wind effect.

Ah. I was more talking about the ballistic tips rather than the fusion projectiles.

Gold dot speer can be cheap and quite good.

Seems to suit my intended shooting perfectly!

    Has been a good thread.

So in conclusion, we all agreed to learn from our previous mistakes, not shoot goats with 22lr, and that target bullets are good for shooting trophy game animals and that strongly constructed bullets are only to be used on targets or not at all.

We learnt that a 270 wsm can kill a thar.

We learnt that Superdiver has a mate.

And that Gimp is a grumpy, blunt bugger when anything 260 related comes up.

    Always learning

We also learnt that you have "shot more tahr than everyone else put together". I guess this means you have been shooting them from a machine???

I'd prefer it stopped now as I've just finished my last beer and I don't think there's any popcorn in the house. @Tahr I've been using federal blue box 130s in the .270win for years and they make things dead pretty well.

Haha. It isn't the first time I have guessed wrong.
It does make me wonder though how you know how many tahr everyone else has shot?

I know someone that has shot them from a machine... and in that case they used a 223. Can we have an argument about shooting tahr with a 223 now....

Hope they were using GMX or TSX projectiles and not slinging recycled Christmas tinsel at them like @gimp and @Hunty1 and @Spitfire and @R93 and @superdiver
