    260 terminator by defensive edge

260 terminator..... Reading the reamer design and using shallow rifling in the leade/throat area to let pressure build before full engagement has me wonder if the gain is actually as big as advertised over say a standard 260ai...

Have done a bit of digging and can't seem to find a reamer for sale either.

Have a 6.5mm 7.5t 28" maskman bartlien coming and am looking to shift up from the standard 260rem chambering I'm running now.

    2890fps with 140 amax
2780fps with a 153gr atip both in the 260rems current barrel.

Would the extra muck around be worth going to the terminator or AI chamber?

    Cheers Ben

You are set on a short action cartridge?
6.5-284 seated out in that tikka could be the answer?

308Win One chambering to rule them all.

It's the tikka that's getting the new barrel. It did cross my mind to go x284 but that's even worse on barrel life

Shit no. The x284 would be the better option I think. Barrels are a consumable haha. The 2225 situation is the issue...

Can't help at all with your question, but where did you get the bag-rider for the MDT XRS chassis??

I reckon the 260 case is about maximum efficiency for the 6.5 bore before you start venturing into overbore status. Now I have no theoretical evidence of this, just my gut feeling after mucking around with the 260 and reading shit loads of info. I too liked the idea of the 260 Terminator, but you'll not get a reamer or a reamer print for it unless you are prepared to go direct to Defensive Edge in the US and pay some bucks.
I went with the 30deg 260Imp design to assist in reducing case length growth and to make a better powder burning column, just like all your key players in the accuracy stakes with case design....they run a 30deg shoulder. I get a few extra fps with this case but the main rewards are better case life.

I run a standard 40° shoulder 260 improved in 2 rifles. Using RL 26 and 2 different brand 23" barrels,130 VLD hunting Berger. I get 3120 fps in both of them with good case life, ES and excellent accuracy.

I havent tried 140gr class projectiles as I am getting what I need from the 130s but looking at the numbers I reckon I could maybe achieve the same with less powder.

I fucked around fireforming brass with and without projectiles for years and then got a hydraulic die off a forum member and havent looked back. Wish I bit the bullet and got one years ago.
Its always cool to have something different but there is already a few 260 improved reamers in NZ.
With how things are in the world at the moment you may be waiting a while to get a terminator up and running and for not much in the way of gains over whats already available here.
If you do go the terminator it will be good to hear how it goes

I also had a 40 degree .260 bugger all gain over the standard but no need to trim cases.
    I now have a standard shooting 143 at 2860fps

Before RL26 I wished I just bought a standard 260 for all the fucking around fireforming etc.
I didnt see any significant gains over a standard either.

I guess the Weatherby 6.5 rpm would be the quickest with a standard bolt face, I don't know where you would get a reamer from though, if you do I'll hire it off you

Yeah the 260rem does well to be fair. The 140 amax at 2900 is pretty decent. Liie. Others have said maybe the x284 is the right route
