    27-08 ?

Almost every possible wildcat has been made but I haven't heard of this yet.

With a dense vit powder and strong 21st century action it could be loaded up like the traditional 270 Win.
Could be easier on throats and pressure wise than the 260Rem, so allow more powder and more KE crammed into an 08 length case.
Yet a bit better BC and velocity than the 308 and 7m08.
More grunt than the 6.8 SPC.
Shorter action than the 7x57, 6.5x55 or 270win.
Wouldn't need an oversize action and mag like the 284, 6.5/284 or 270WSM.

Should be a good NZ all rounder for someone wanting a unique calibre.

Has anyone here made one ?

Ive heard of it being done before. a TRUE 7mm pill out of an 08 case, the 6.8spc and spc11 have pretty well got things covered now and sure as God made little green apples there is a good range of projectiles to use now that were never there before.

Better bc than 7mm and 30cal with better velocity from the same case?

I might be missing something but I dont see how this is possible?
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

308Win One chambering to rule them all.

Mate runs one on a Tikka M55 action, built for him probably 12-15 years ago now by John Hall.

Primarily set-up for a particular Norma projectile that he liked using on Reds at the time, although he did have another load for Fallow with the same POI.

There was one quite a few years ago called the 270 Redding don't know the specs on it seems like it faded away, the Aussies made a 270/303 don't really
see the point of the 270 it's nether one or the other sits between the 6.5x64 and the 7x64 with 160 grain bullets both are better, it's main targets are the
Prong horn Antelope, Big horn sheep and Rocky mountain Goats we don't have those here Chamois and Thar are pretty close I guess,
If the short action .270 was a good idea you would have thought an America Arms company would have tried to market one.

The problem of the 270, is the general twist used by most manufacturers to stabilise a 130 to 150 grains bullet which is too slow for the longer/ heavier vlds.

If you were using a 308 lapua case with small primer pocket, necked down to 27 with a 30 or 35 degrees shoulder in a fast twist barrel then you could start to get something descent . But then somebody would neck up the 6.5/284 to 27 and beat you to it. ( it would have exactly the same performance as a 270 win.!).

I know a guy up my way who has a rem 700 in 27-08. Shoots plenty of deer with 130 grainers, reds and sika. Can't tell you the performance but it was a mild recoiling and accurate rig.

It's pretty academic arguing between the differences of the 27-08 / 260 / 7-08 and 308. They will all do the same thing, be accurate, mild recoiling and kill stuff.

    Have you considered a 27-284? Or a 27-08AI

Exactly. I wouldn't want to be hit in the arse by any of them.

the .27-06 AI intreged me so asked a few questions.....probably now worth the hassle for the slight gain.... what lead my train of thought that way way fellas wanking on and on and on and on and on about how good thier .280AI was and how much faster it was than the std round,so wondered what possibility of doing same to humble .270,seems it would be a bit of a nightmare to achieve.

I have a 6.5-280AI reamer so probably wouldn't be a big drama the chamber a barrel in .270-280AI.

I looked at getting a reamer & it would yield a reasonable increase in performance especially with the new slower powders

But the standard 270 barrel twist is pretty average & everyone knows the 270 is............ aye Toby

I have heard they are as good as a 264 win mag @Kiwi Greg just neck down 280ai brass to 264 and go shooting.

    What sort of performance ? 3100 with a 140?
