    270 150 Lrabs

So ive been doing some load development for a mate and his 270 tikka. Seated for mag length first lot were done with 2209 from 48 grains to 51.5 iirc? So he shot them and accuracy of all of them were outstanding like 15 shots into an inch and a half maybe smaller. B7t got piss poor speeds on the chrony only just cracking high 2500s and then they started going backward in speed as powder charge went up. I put it down to dodgy battery and bad light. So I did some more up for him with 2213sc and he shot them today and still didn't crack 2600fps and we loaded up to 2 grains over max of adi book.
So what am I missing. Inlay have set his seating die up wrong and may have crimped the load would this cause speed issues? Am I just being a pissy and just keep upping the load. There are absolutely no pressure signs what so ever. Ideas better powders? . 22 inch barrel aswell. Cheers

    I was getting 3000fps with 140gn accubonds and AR2213sc (60gns) in a 24" barrel. That was a fairly hot load but I would expect 2800 with a 150gner even from a 22 inch barrel.

I getting 2800fps in a Finnlight barrel using 55gr ADI 2213sc and fed primers, seating them to just fit the magazine.

This is why running a ladder test first to find your max powder load can be handy, If your not getting pressure signs then up the powder.

Yup fair enough we should have just loaded single rounds per increment to find out speed and pressure limits then tweaked for accuracy . I'm still a noob at this gig.

Should be able to get at least 2800 fps with 150 gr in 270. My tikka 270 does 2800 with 150 gr Noslar Partition and 57 grs of AR 2213 SC, 22 inch barrel.

    I shot a few .270 reloads today.
    140gr nosler bt, 58gr superformance powder =3150fps
    145 gr eld-x, 56gr ar2213sc =2830fps. will try superformance next time
150gr nosler partition, 58gr ar2213sc =2873fps may also try superformance next time.

Had the best groups with the eld-x. 7.5mm being the best. Also got good accuracy with the nosler bt. The partitions were pretty good to though I pulled a couple of shots. Was shooting on pretty rough terrain.... not very comfortable and swirling fairly strong winds so all in all a good day for me.
Rifle: tikka t3 , 22.5 inch barrel and suppressor.

ADI powder doesn't compare to Superformance, seems to be a better powder for the 270 Win.
