I've got a few hundred of the 165gr matrix bonded, .277 bullets, Marshall, the bullet maker, recon they go all right in a 1-10 twist, esp. the WSM and Wby, his words where, "push em hard,"
He also said a faster twist is ideal, and recommend a 1-8 as then I could shoot his 175gr, .277
I had a go with my EW M70 270wsm,(1-10) it didn't seam to like them, nor anything else I tried, sold rifle and gave up. Gave a few hundred away, to others to try, never heard back, so don't know.
Was a few fellows shooting them in long range comps over here, Its, well known Marshall has rubbed a few noses in the mud, with his 270 at long range, much to the disgust of the 300 win, 7mm, 6.5 shooters.
Shearer and Micky Duck like this.

when you look up the BC of the old speer 170 grn round nose and put them into a ballistics calculator......its actually pretty darn good out to medium range if you can push them semi fast.
