Has come about that I have the opportunity to get the BSA 270 reamed out to a Gibbs.
Whats the general opinion on it.
Q2. The full sizing die would need reaming too, is that a difficult jobby to do?
P.s. I'll have no lip out of you Toby!

Ya can't park there mate.
270 Gibbs is great in 24"+ barrel, will give .270Wby performance, but with more hassle - case forming is an arse, dies are easily obtainable.
- More powder used per round
- More recoil-
- Case forming is a pain
- Real world velocity gain over .270 Win is no more than 200fps in the heaver projectiles (and you load it hard to get there!)
- Resale value is toast
Better of with a 7mm Mag if you want to drive heavier projectiles fast- or just leave your .270 as is, 110gn TTSX at 3300fps is fast enough if it is speed you want.
Cheers mate, that says it all really. Sounds like a lot of fluffin around for small gain

Hi kidmac,
Just wondered who has the reamer etc for 270 gibbs please?
Cheers Mark.
I think mark at desert guns in Cromwell has a Gibbs reamer still.

No one Ackley's a 270 for that reason. No real gain. 270 driving 110gr Barnes is lethal. I loaded plenty for dude who flattens stags up Tuai.
What powder behind that @TeRei?
Fast twist .270s with custom chambers are doing just under 2950 FPS with 170 gr projectiles. That’s no slouch.
