Have just walked back in the door from the range after loading three different charged 145gr ELDX.
    Rifle: Blaser R8
COAL: 3.350" (i think this is too long and gave me pressure issues)
    CCI BR2 bench rest primers.

Looked at Moosemans loads and tried to replicate.
Started at 56gr and then did 56.5 and 57gr.
The 56 was the best and had no pressure signs. (0.4")
56.5 saw a half moon appear and it open up by 0.2" to 0.5"
I thought i would give 57 a go and went into 0.5"as well but more pressure signs.

The main signs of pressure was a half moon and a slightly stiffer bolt pull. I am thinking this is contributed to the COAL being slightly too long. Blasers are known for liking a jump.

I gauged the length by using a spent case and a projectile and seated it into my chamber, extracted and repeated. Every time it came out to 3.400" so took 50 thous off.

The superformance powder gave two rounds touching and the third was always off. I think it may be slightly temperature sensitive.

The annoying thing is I fowled my barrel with the factory precision hunter ammo and it shot into 0.2", but i know it is going SLOOOOOOW.

If you can get 2950fps with the 145gr it would be an awesome round

yup this is exactly what I am using in my 270
    145g ELDX
    58 grains of ADI AR2213SC
    Winchester brass
    cci primers
off the top of my head speed was 2930fps or there abouts.
We did a ladder test starting at 56 grains right up to 59 grains
57 grains and 58 grains where pretty much identical so we went with 58 for the extra velocity.
shooting out of my Sako A7 no pressure signs
    shoots like a laser

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

Because they work. As with the Berger you use and find works well. No doubt in the future some new bullet will be marketed and will end up being the Bees knees but till then I won't change.
