tikka here on the forum and a few others whom I personally know including myself that have shot deer out over 700 yards and I'm pretty sure they didn't know it wasn't a magnum killing them. Think the furthest one of our long range ones has gone might be 30 yards but most don't even make it that far. They have all been with the eldx but tikka on here was shooting them further with the nosler lrab.

No doubt they have the beans to shoot further my 400yard comment was more related to how far I was comfortable and confident using it, looking back at it my comment doesn't read that way but I knew what I meant :yaeh am not durnk: .
270 and eldx go together like peas and carrots :D

If (when/ever...?) the 6.8 Western actually becomes a thing, it will be interesting to see if manufacturers change the .270 barrel twist spec (an possibly throating) to keep up with higher B.C .277 bullets...

Can't see why 6.8 is better than 7mm...

its a funny thing when you run the numbers on these fence posts...the trajectory isnt half bad....

I suspect the crown has not been done very good as it was chopped and done as a mates hookup. Got one more test to run and then i’ll be telling him to go get it checked out by a gunsmith. He ran some simple soft nose projectiles through it the other day before it came to me and they were very poor aswell.

Im ASSUMING you have done all the usual checks...scope rings,scope BASES,scope itself.....action screws,bedding.....mag box NOT pinched.....
you seem to know your way around a rifle but its easy to miss one of the above.

Gave everything a check over such as action screws, scope rings etc the other day but I have just dug deeper and suspect it’s bedding is rooted. The recoil lug is not snug and when the action screws are not tight the rifle can slide backwards and forwards due to the loose recoil lug pocket.

You hit the nail on the head, get a Tikka and problem solved.
