    280rem RL26 loads with heavies?

So have any of you lot tried RL26 with either the 175gr or 180gr ELD projectiles?

Getting 3000fps with the 162gr ELD-X but mediocre accuracy, wonder if the heavier projectiles might be worth a go?

Doesn't seem to be any published data i can see for RL26, anyone run it through QL or GRT?

Looking for a "educated" starting point...

Do you have to run reloader 26?or do you have any other options? I ran my 280 with 162 amax's with 54 grains of 4831 with great results. 4831 seemed to work well in 280 with 120, 140's to 162's . I know its not the bullet weight you asking about but it might also work with the heavier bullets . Is it just another option .

@wayno I have good loads for 150gr and 162 Eld-X with Hybrid 100V, but have some RL26 on hand which seems a prime candidate to push some heavies down range.

I'm just a terrible tinkerer! The 162 Eld-X load probably does everything I need.

    Ive got the latest Speer Manuel, its show's reloader 26, 160 gr at 49.9 @ 2691- 55.0gr Compresses load, @ 2854,
    Speer 175gr min 50.5- 2477fps--- max55.5g for 2723fps
Ive got a 7x64 and run it with Reloader 26 and Lapua brass, 154 IB gr at 2950 fps, with 62gr R26.

I think your well over pressure at 3000fps, and a 162 gr, Speer's data, shows the 7mm rem mag, at less than that with a 160gr. (2989)
Ive got quick load, i ran 60 gr R26 threw with a 162 eldx and a 24" barrel, got 63477psi for pressure, so getting up there,
Quick load with the 175gr ELDX, same rifle data, 57 gr Reloader 26 gives 61000psi.

I ran quick load with 59.5 R26 and 85mm for a OAL, 60700 Psi, so high, but not foolish high. guessed 24" barrel lenght.
Have you tried a lighter bonded bullet, I like the interbond 154 gr and Accubonds 160 in 7mm bore. I know they a bit more expensive, but the sure give good consistence results, on game out to sensible ranges (400m)
I shot a Med size bull Moose on the 24th sept, drove a 165gr Accubond (300 win mag) threw 4 feet of mussel and bone and still exited, Accubonds in 7x57, 7x64, 300 win and 300H&H, 9.3x62 have been sterling performers for me.
as have the old 162 A-max in my 7x57.
Danny and Moa Hunter like this.
