An idea or question for all you fellow 284 converts - brass, yes can get & neck up 6.5x284 brass, but wouldn't it be nice to not have to bother with that.
If there's enough interest perhaps we could get a bulk import of 284 brass & access reasonable costs.
Seems that brass costs in general have jumped a lot past year or 2.
Perhaps some other member who knows about import permits might like to chime in to.
Just grab that 100 norma on here for $350 :D
Nah not for me!! When I got a .284 I found a packet of Winchester .284 Brass for sale at one sports shop for $60 and 2 packets of factory Winchester .284 for $30 something each, so I'm set and that lot was a heck cheaper than $350 for the same amount of brass!!!Quote:

You could get Bertram brass but my experience has been its pretty average, quality, weight & consistency wise

A mate of mine shoots a 284.
He did a lot of research and decided that forming it out of Lapua 6.5x284 was the easiest/cheapest way to get good reliable brass.
Yes Winchester do, do a run of it, but the reports are that it's a bit shit.
The sizing up was super easy, but in his case he had a really tight chamber cut for his barrel and required neck turning, which if he'd had known about he could've had the chamber cut a bit bigger.
I'd be inclined to go that route as the initial sizing and potential neck turning will be a one off and the Lapua should outlast any other make of brass, making it cheaper in the long run.

Never found any brass, in Edmonton, out of stock at the P&D enterprise, who carries the largest amount of reloading goodies, its on order, and two of the online stores, had it, I see if I can bring sum, when next back, likely Mid May.

I'd take some as well if possible...but I imagine with all these orders you will be over the luggage weight limit!!!
