3 shot groups always with a flier...

Am trying to sort out a rifle that is having issues for a mate. I took it to the range today and most things I would feed it would have 2 shots touching then a flier about an inch off, always in the horizontal plane... I don't think its me because I had other rifles there that shot as expected... Thoughts?

Is it floated, if so, is it still floated after shot two?

My .22 can do that, I put it down to the ammo or maybe damage to the projectile whe cycling, the suppressor also upsets it, I put that down to ground effect on the projectile as it passes thru the washers, ie the holes are to tight?

I think its floated well enough. 162gr Amax's shouldn't get damaged during cycling...

If the rifle basics are tidy then adjust neck tension to two thou or powder type

What is the neck tension now, 5-8 thou can give fliers, federal brass fl resized without the expander ball can give 11 thou neck tension which certainly makes fliers

Don't get too pedantic if it's a hunting rig, one moa is still roughly 8 inches at 800yrds, which kills deer.

I have heard of guys returning tikka 7mm remmags because they only shot .6 moa

Had a similar problem, I fixed it for my rifle by doing two things, reduced load by one grain and went from just off from touching the lands to touching.works for some wont work for others id imagine.

You should get two groups if the bedding is at fault, 1,3,and 5, and 2 and 4 but 1 inch off is not bad at all for a hunting rifle, just try to shoot a 1 inch group standing up!
