Not bad for a 30 30, many years ago I had a Win 94 only with open sights but it sure was a nice weapon, puts deer down with ease within it's range capabilities.

Yep, I'm keeping the limitations below 100m and hopefully in the bush much less. Good to know its pretty much dead hold when needed.

Excellent work. You dont need to limit yourself too much with a .30/30 - last one I shot with a 30/30 was in July with a 150 grain Hornady Interlock at about 50-60 metres, went in the forrard chest of a medium hind, and exited after wrecking the port side after haunch.
It will kill deer just fine out to 200 metres.
I use AR2208 and get 2240fps with 150 grainers out of a 20 inch carbine barrel. In three different Winchester carbines I have this kind of velocity and accuracy 1.5 -2.0 inches at 100m with open sights depending on the rifle. With 170 grain Hornadys I get 2100fps.
    What is 2206H in American?

ADI AR2206H, popular in the ar platform.

Ok that figures, H4895. Hardly much different to 2208 / Varget.

Not wanting to wander off topic but I am getting a 50fps speed increase in a 19.5” .308 in a switch from 2208 to 2206H. I’ve read that 2206H is good in a shorter barrel and this seems to be the case.

I only did it because quickload suggested I'd get a similar burn rate with less powder and lower pressures.
My 336 has an 18inch barrel.

    29gr 2206h. 90% fill. 34797psi. 1972fps. 88% burn

To get the same speed (1974fps) with 2208, I'd have to go with 30gr, 96% fill, 36085psi, 87% burn.
