Thread: 30-30 Sabot round

In my cartridge collection I have a 30-30 sabot round.

For those not in the know they are a 223cal (approx) projectile sleeved inside a plastic ‘fingered’ sleeve and fitted into a larger calibre case, the idea being you had a high velocity projectile coming out of an average velocity rifle.

They must have been a ‘fad’ back in the 70’s (?) and I guess they weren’t a success judging by the fact I don’t see them for sale any more.

Anybody else remember them or know why they disappeared?
