    300 Blackout Cast Projectiles

Hi Guys; has anyone out there used the 230 gr RNFB cast projectiles on game? Im using LeHigh 168 gr on deer & loving them but they bit expensive for anything else. You tube have some videos of the 230gr "missles" ( they call them) & reckon the projectile tumbles after impact. Reloaders Supplies have the bullets (similiar shape) in Black Widow 230gr RNFB powder coated red. So far they group just a bit bigger than my thumbnail @ 35 yards with 8.7 gr 2205 at 1030 fps with my Hardy barrelled Sako A1. Hard to know if they guna pencil straight through...They hit the steel behind the paper pretty hard but that doesnt show terminal performance of course.. Anyone out there ,Been There Done That? Any Help Much Appreciated ..

Could try shooting into a stack of damp newspapers. That may give you an idea of what the projectile is doing

Good Idea .... itll give me some indication. From what i saw on youtube they seem to stay totally intact in ballistic jell. Also wondered; if so; to set up a jig to hollowpoint them to a certain depth say with a 2mm drill bit ....

for cast in 300blk I use roberts 151gr hollow points
they deform and mushroom nicely and still exit most of the times

I think the 2205 with a packer is a bit more refined and cleaner but I just use 7.2gr trail boss to push them
they are flat fronted for performance so they can be a little finnicky to feed but most of the time I run sub x in the mag and just drop a cast load on top to deal with peacocks or similar
robert has all sorts of weight cast bullets if you wanted to go heavier but I cant see any benifit when the 151s exit most of the time anyway

Hi Bill999 , Thanks for that. i did try the flat nosed .30 cal 200gr Sub cast bullets from Robert but as you say; the feeding from the Mag was a bitch & my converted Sako A1 sprayed them around unhappily..they did hit steel with quite some authority tho.. Trail Boss seems to be exceedingly hard to find but the 2205 works fine for me. What packer are you using? Are you crimping your cast bullets? Cast bullets are abit of a new undertaking for me.Any thoughts on powder coating them? Thanks for any info

I found Trail Boss not very good in my Blackout have had better success with 700X 3,5 grains works ok; any of the powders around the same burn rate would work it doesn't take much
    to move a cast bullet.
As the the 200 grain bullets didn't fly I am happy to send you some 151 HP to try,
    Get in touch
    Cheers
    Robert.
