300 Norm mag / Blaser R8

Anyone here running an R8 in 300 Norma Mag ?

I have a mate from Germany who hunts here with me regularly.
Hes wanting to start doing some more serious long range hunting back home and is looking at adding a 300 Norma Mag barrel to his Blaser R8.
Like the vast majority of Germans he doesn't do reloading and its generally pretty uncommon over there except from commercial reloaders.
He would be limited to using the factory Norma target ammunition https://www.norma.cc/en/Products/Tar...-Norma-Magnum/.

From those of you with experience, what are your thoughts on the 230 Berger hybrids at 2985 FPS ?
He is looking at 600m as being his maximum realistic range and I think he has the skills to comfortably do that.

I have advised him that the numbers don't kill the animals .... but the numbers are very seductive !

600? Id rather not get a hiding for it. 308 win

7mm rem mag is all you need

Sure the 300 NM works. But it is a specialist cartridge, doesn't sound like your friend will be too happy with it.
