    300 Norma Mag - Projectiles.

    Morning team,

Got a second hand 300 Norma Mag with a 30” carbon barrel on the way. Predominantly plan on using it as a tops hunting rig, but possibly keen on some long range competition shooting as well.

Planning on using 2225 powder as N570 is as rare as pony dust….

Anyway, thoughts on the Burger 245g OEL
Vs a lighter pill such as the Hornady ELD-X 220g? Do you think the increase in velocity would outweigh the lower BC? Any other pills I should be taking a better look at?

Current plan is to load up both the Berger 245s and the ELD-Xs and chrono them - and run them through a ballistic calculator. Minimal windage and tight groups being the goal.

    Thoughts?

The 230 A-Tip would be ideal

What twist barrel does this have? For those heavies a 1-9" twist or faster will be required. Don't forget to test the 215 Berger as well, they are a very consistent bullet & if your not shooting over 1,000yds a great alternative to the 245. Work pretty well on deer as well.

Good info, happened to talk with one of your customers today about it - He said you hand loaded for him and had the gun running the A Tip 230s around 3050 out of a 26” barrel. Looks promising. Any value in considering the 250g A tips? Wonder what the velocity loss / BC gain trade off would equate to.
