    300 Weatherby

    Gidday all!

I've recently acquired a Mark V in 7mm Weatherby. To cut it short if it's barrel isn't as great as I think then a new barrel would be in order. As the 7mm WBY has sweet f all factory ammunition and limited brass I was thinking of going to 300 WBY to increase factory ammunition selection and with that more brass availability. Does anyone load for it on here? Obviously I will be reloading for it.

It's use will be to reach out particularly in the mavora/eyre mountains/takitumus/ fiordland tops on big reds.

if you dont reload i would look at going to something like 300win or 300rum over the wby

If it came down to that I'd go the win mag.

I don't know much about Mark V, but make sure that the mag has enough space to handle the long 300, as the 7 mm W is in the 7 rem mag type of length.

300 Weatherby rocks, was my number one rifle for everything (including rabbits!) for a decade, easy to load for - if you are really bothered about factory ammo you could always shorten the barrel you have, at the chamber end and ream to 7mmRem Mag, cost you fuck all to do. But if you are going to reload, it become irrelavent what cartridge you go with.

I've just replaced the vanguard Rem mag with this Mark V so I don't fancy going to Rem mag again. Nothing wrong with it I just want a 300 WBY

Gunworks have the brass I load for eleven weatherby calibres and have no problem getting brass. Barnes ttsx projectiles in all wby cals loaded to max length for the mag seem to shoot real good in all cals for me
    Weatherby mkv or nothing
