300 win mag loads
hi team, i am currently running factory 200gn eldx in my tikka t3 1:11 twist it shoots around moa,i want to start loading for it, would i be right in thinking 1;11 twist might be better suited to 178 eldx, is anyone loading for the same calibre/rifle? was going to use h4831sc or ar equivalnt powder.
thanks grosin.

Have you checked the ADI website?

I load the 208 ELDm in my Sako (1 in 11 twist). Accuracy is great but I did have to knock the bc back a little bit to make it fit the trajectory. The spin stability calculator on the berger website was pretty close.
The 200grn will be sweet but the biggest issue your going to have with the heavies in a tikka is mag feeding them.

Use 2217 powder if your planning on shooting 200gr +

I used to use 165 Nosler BTs in front of AR2213sc with good results but if you are looking at a heavier projectile I would probably go with a slower powder.

thank you Rwt i will give the 208s a go are the eldm similar on deer to the a max? are you getting good velocity with the 2217?
-
Ive never used Amaxs on deer but I believe their very similar. Ive shot about 10 or so reds with the 208 from 60ish to 500m. Around 250m and in I havnt had anything exit and they are pretty destructive. 500m passed through a stag left a fairly good exit.
Im getting 2925fps from a 24 inch barrel. 79.6gr of 2217 in Norma brass at around 3.6" OAL. Thats getting up their though. Got a mate who ran the same load in his sako 85 for the same result.

I use the 200 gr ELDX with RL 26 . 74 grs gives me 2900 fps in a Tikka T3. Loaded to mag length 85.5 mm.
I did use the 178 ELDX with 73 grs ADI 2213 SC for a speed of 3003 fps. Both loads do around the inch at 100 yds.

2217 with 208s in mine goes 2980 fps with a 1:10, 26” barrel.
2217 is very temp stable and is ideal for 200+ grain projectiles.
