    300blk AR loads

Can anybody help me choose some loads,
    I'm just building a AR 300 blk 16" 1/7
Looking at both a sub and super load,
Any help with powder and pill selection or any tips would be appreciated.

Also looking for a set of dies.

    Cheers

H110/W296 are favorites and my experience with this powder is that it meets published velocities and accuracy with 125 grain projectiles has been good so far.

Dies are cheap enough here in NZ.

    Thinking about buying one myself.
Looks like a 20" barrel with 175 grain projectiles can be made to make major for IPSC 3 gun.
The other thought was to buy a 12.5" barrel version and still make minor for 3 gun but is a super short handy package.

175 will probably need a 20' to make major, that was my plan as well, but built a hunting 300 first.

My DPMS 300blkout loves 125gn Nos BTs over H110. I won't tell you the powder loading as it is from memory and I would want to check it on the RCBS chargemaster. 3 shot groups overlap, flattened a wild pig at 100m and punched straight through a cull deer.

What ever you sub wise just remember that they are poor killers. My experience is that they pencil through do F all damage and the animal runs off. If you can hit the spine its all good but unless you buy specialised bullets like Le High's nothing expands at that speed. I was thoroughly disappointed with subs in a hunting situation. This get compounded by the rainbow trajectory that means once you get past 50m you have to be very aware of the Exact distance otherwise you end up going low into the brisket and wounding. Subs sound good but in reality I think they are a waste of time for most hunting situations. I am sure I will be flamed over this but I geuss opinions are like arseholes, everyones got one.

That's pretty much what I found with them too, I was looking at some of the cast bullets and wondered if anyone had used these with any good results?? 300 BLK 235gr Cast Projectile | Trade Me

If they are made of soft enough lead they should offer some expansion possibilities, they may shave some lead into the gas system depending on the gas hole, might be an issue might not be.

+ 1 couldn't agree more, that's why I went to 450 Bush Master for subs using pistol projectiles, at least its an 11.5mm diameter entry hole.
